Summary

Interior designers design the interior space so that the spaces are as beautiful, functional, and safe as possible. They usually work together with architects and construction engineers.

  • Collaborating with customers for designing or renovating spaces according to their requirements
  • Reading and interpreting sketches
  • Improving the functionality, security, and aesthetics of interior spaces
  • Supervising the decoration process

Work condition

Interior designers usually work in design offices, but they spend much time supervising on the field.  Working hours are not regular and often have to travel to advise customers when purchasing furniture. Interior designers can be self-employed or work in groups.

Work tools

Designers should have a high knowledge of computer. They should know how to use CAD and other design software such as Photoshop and InDesign.

Necessary education and training

The interior designer's occupation is taught in vocational secondary schools and further qualifications are welcomed.
